Day 7: The Reason for Everything

"For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen." Romans 11:36

The reason for everything - this universe, exist is to show glory to God!

What is the glory to God! It is who He is. The essence of his nature, weight of his importance, the radiance of his splendor, the demonstration of his power and the atmosphere of his presence. God's glory is the expression of his goodness and all his other intrinsic, eternal qualities.

Where is the glory of God!Everywhere! Just look around. Everything created on earth and beyond has a mighty creator behind and that is God! God's glory is best seen in Jesus Christ. He, the Light of The World, illuminates God's nature. Because of Jesus and all of God's splendour, we no longer stray in the dark.

"The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven." Hebrews 1:3

We are commanded to to recognize His glory, honor His glory, declare His glory, praise His glory, reflect His glory and live for His glory. Living for the glory of God is the best achievement we can accomplish with our lives. Jesus honored God by fulfilling his purpose on earth.

We bring glory to God by worshiping Him

Worship is our responsibilty to God. We worship God by enjoying Him. God wants our worship to be motivated by love. thanksgiving, and delight not duty. Worship is far more than praising, singing and praying to God. Worship is a lifestlye of enjoying God, loving Him, giving ourselves to be used for His purposes.

We bring God glory by loving other believers

When you were born again, you became a part of God's family. It is our responsibility to learn how to love as God does, because God is love and it honors him.

We bring God glory by serving others with our gits.

Each of us was designed! by God with talents and gifts. God didnt give us abilties for our selfish ambitions. They were given to benefit others just as others for you.

We bring God glory by telling others about Him

God doesn't want his love and purpse to be kept a secret. Once we know the truth, we are expected to share it to others. This is the greated privilege! To introduce others to Jesus and helping them discover their purposes.

Living the rest of our life for the Glory of God require changes in our priorities, scheduele, relationships and everything else. It will sometimes means the difficult paths. Even Jesus struggled with this when he was about to be crucified, "Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" John 12:27-28

To live through our own goal or to let God shape our heart and follow his will is our choice. Remember! God has eternal reward for us! We may wonder wether we have the strength to live for God's will or not. Don't worry! For God's grace is sufficient for us. Now, God is inviting us to live for His glory! Everything else is just existing. Real life begins only when we live completely for Jesus Christ. If YOU are not sure that you have done this, there are 2 things that we need to do

BELIEVE

Believe God loves you and made you for his purposes! Believe that we were made to last forever. Believe God has chosen you to have a relationship with Jesus and no matter what you have done, God wants to forgive you!

RECEIVE

Receive Jesus as our saviour and Lord!

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."John 3:36a

Day 6: Life Is a Temporary Assignment

"Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days;let me know how fleeting is my life." Psalms 39:4

The bible is full of metaphors that teach about the brief, temporary, transient nature of life on earth. Real believers understand that there is far more to life than just the few years we live on this planet. Your identity is in eternity, and your homeland is Heaven. When we grasp this truth, nothing else in this world matters and we could let go of the fact that we want everything. Flirting with the riches of the world is by God, a spiritual adultery.

The bible stated very clear, "Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul." 1 Peter 2:11

"those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away." 1 Corinthians 7:31. Having said that, we shoudn't get too attached to the world and its riches it can offer as everything in it is temporary as compared to eternal gifs of God. Amen.

Only when we grasps the truth that life is a test, is a trust and a temporary assignment will we able to accept that everything in this world is no longer to the utmost importance. Our assignment - live on earth...determines our eternity. We are preparing for something BETTER! Praise the Lord! "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18

The fact that earth is our temporary home explains why there are so much difficult, sorrow, and rejection as followers of Jesus. In order for us not get too attached to this world, God bless us with a significant amount of discontent or dissatisfaction. We will never be completely happy because we are not at "home" yet! To think God's purpose for us is popularity, fame or success is wrong! SALAH!

Your time on earth is not the complete story of life. Heaven is where our following chapters of our life lie. As a faithful christian we must realize, live will be like a foreigner on earth. We are not at "home" yet! At death we will leave home, but enter "HOME"

Kenin's Remark:

Wow... we are going to live forever! That's just amazing. When i read this chapter I realized...all the N80, cK watch, this and that is no longer IMPORTANT!!! The craving is gone! All gone...wow the fact that life and home can be soooo beautiful and now there is something better awaiting us...our new "Home"

Hallelujah!

Day 5: Seeing Life from God's View

"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14b

The way we see life shapes our life. Our prespective influences how we invest our time, spend our money, use our talents and value relationships.

A good way to understand people is to ask them, "How do you see life?" People often express life with cars, clothes, jewelry, hairstyles, bumper stickers or even tatoo!

Our unspoken life influences our life more then we realized it. It determines our expectations, values relationships, goals and priorities. For example, if we think life is a party, our primary life is about having fun. If we see life as a marathon, we value endurance and if we see life as a battle or game, winning will be very important to us.

To fulfill the purpose God made us for, we will have to challenge conventional wisdom. The bible says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

The bible offers three metaphors:
Life is a test
Life is a trust
Life is a temporary assignment

1) Life is a test

God continually test people's character, faith, obedience, love, integrity, and loyalty. Words like trials, temptations, refining, and testing occured a lot in the bible. We are constantly being tested by God. From the tough to the simplest actions. Major changes, delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayer, underserved criticisms and senseless tragedies are all tests from God. One important test is how do we react when we can't feel God's presence in our life. When we realized life is a test, nothing else matters. The good news is ... God wants us to pass. And everytime we do, God notices and makes plan to reward us in eternity.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

2) Life is a Trust

We are entrusted of whatever God gives us. God owns everything in this world. The bible says, "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" Psalms 24:1 Everything on earth is a loan from God in which he entrusted to us and we get to enjoy it only for a while. At the end of life, we will be evaluated and rewarded according to how we handle the things God entrusted to us upon. EVERYTHING we do from simple chores till huge assignments will be evaluated. If we treat everything entrusted as a trust, God rewards us with three things in eternity that is His affirmation, promotion and celebration. Jesus said: "But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Luke 12:48

Kenin's remark:
Hmm...now that i realized everything i do is evaluated by God, it made me wanna work harder and willingly. Not to achieve the status quo but to serve God and do this test and trust and offer a good sacrifice to God. Glorifying His name! Everything we do...we must DO IT FOR GOD!

Day 4: Made to Last Forever

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Earth is the staging area and the tryout of our life in eternity. At most we will live for a hundred years on earth, but for eternity we will spend our time there forever. We were made to last forever! The reason we felt to live forever is simply because God created us to be that way.

While earth has a myriad of choices. Eternity simply offers two options: Heaven or Hell. Tragically, many people cannot spend lives in eternity with God. The closer we live to God, the smaller everything else appears. When you live in light of eternity, your value changes. We will use our time and money wisely.

If time on earth is all there is in eternity, life wil be meaningless. There is no point being good and ethical. Our actions' consequences cannot be bothered and we can indulge ourself in total self-centerness.

Death is the transition to eternity not your termination. Life on earth is just the tip of the iceberg. What it will be like spending eternity with God? No one on earth can handle the wonders God has for us. It will be like explaining the Internet to the ant.

Jesus will one day say, "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world." Matthew 25:34

If we have a relationship with Jesus, there is no need to fear death. Therefore, live daily as it is your last day on the earth to join your Heavenly Father above.

Kenin's remark:

WOW! we are created to live forever...doesn't that just amaze you...

Day 3: What Drives Your Life?

"And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man's envy of his neighbor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Ecclesiastes 4:4

Everyone in life is drived by something...it can be a problem, a pressure, guilt etc u name it *winks*

~~ The 5 most common drives are ~~

1) Guilt

People driven by guilt spend their live running from regrets, hiding their shame. Their memories manipulate them. The guilt within sabotages one's self success. When Cain sinned, he couldnt feel God's presence. Sin results in people wandering through their life without a purpose.
God's purpose gladfully is not limited to our past! He turned Moses a murderer into a leader and a coward name Gideon into a hero...God specializes in giving people a fresh start.

"Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven,whose sins are covered. "Psalms 32:1

2) Resentment and Anger

Some people are driven by anger. Instead of releasing their pain through forgiveness, they rehearse it over and over in their minds. Some people either accumulate their anger or release their anger which is neither a healthy action. Resentments normally hurts ourselves more than it hurts others. For our sake it is best to let go of the pain!

"Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple." Job 5:2

3) Fear

Fears can be a result of traumatic experience, unrealistic expectations etc. People driven by fear often play it safe, avoiding risks and trying to maintain the status quo. Fear is a "prison" hindering us from becoming wat God wants us to be. We must fight it with the FAITH and LOVE.

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."1 John 4:18

4) Materialism **cough cough**

The desire to have more is what drives most people's life. The idea is that once we had more we will be happier. Possesions only provides temporary happiness! Self worth IS NOT net worth. God said...The most important things is NOT things. Only a relationship with God can provide the real security in which nothing can be taken from us.

5) Approval

People who are driven by approvals are people who live up to other's expectations. Some are driven by unpleasable parents, peer pressures or public acknowledgement. People who follow the crowds are often lost in the midst of it. There are many keys to success but the key to failure is to try to please everyone. Pleasing everyone hinders you from the purpose God has for you and your life. Nothing matters more than knowing the purpose God has for you. Without a purpose, life is without meaning, activity without direction, and events without reasons. Life will be trivial petty and pointless.

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Matthew 6:24

~~The Benefits of Purpose Driven Living~~

1) Gives meaning to your life

We were made to have a meaning. Without God, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope. In the Bible many people has expressed this hopelessness like Isaiah. The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without a purpose. Hope is just as essential to your life as air and water. You need hope to cope. If you ever felt hopeless, hold on. Wonderful changes are bound to happen in your life as you begin to live with a purpose. God said in Jeremiah 29:11,

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

2) Simplifies your life

It defines what you do and what you don't do. Your purpose becomes the standard you use to evaluate which activities are essential and which aren't. Without a clear purpose you have no foundation on which you base decisions, allocate time and resources. We tend to make choices based on circumstances, pressures and mood. People who don't know their purpose tend to do too much. We have the time not to do everything but enough to do God's will. The Bible says,

"One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth." Proverbs 13:7

3) Focuses your life

It concentrates your effort and energy on what's important. We become effective by being selective. Many people are like gyroscopes, spinning around at a frantic pace but not going anywhere. The power of focusing sets a good example with the features of light. With a magnifying glass, a sun ray can burn a paper...a laser beem can cut through steel. If you want to have an impact in life, focus it! Do less!

4) Motivates your life

Purpose always produce passion. George bernard Shaw wrote, " This is true joy of life: the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature instead of feverish, selfish little clots of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy".

5) Prepares you for eternity

Many people spend their time on earth to create a legacy. They want to be remembered. However, what ultimately matters most will not be what others say about your life but what God says. Eventually all victories will be surpassed, records broken and reputations fade. Living to create an earthly legacy is a short sighted goal. A wiser choice is to build an eternal elgacy. One day we will stand before God and He will audit our life asking: What have we done with His Son, Jesus Christ and what did we do with what He gave us. These will prepare me and you on where and what we will do in eternity.

Kenin's remark:

This a post that greatly reminds me of the power of sin: Cain wondering aimlessly. This is an exciting post because i am particularly attracted to the fact that I myself is driven by materialism and the need for approval. I want to get super good result so that I can be rich and acknowledged as the guy who is good! I learnt I was wrong all this while. I am also specially attracted to the fact a purpose driven life is a focused life in which it simplifies my life thus motivating me and preparing my destiny for eternity. What a nice book~

Day 2: You Are Not An Accident

"God doesn't play dice"
Albert Einstein

As the name suggests, day 2 is about the existence of YOU, YOU my friend is not an accident, you are not an astronomical random creation, you are the creation of God which HE conceived in his mind before u were conceived in YOUR' mom's womb...

There is a purpose of our existence and it is not arbitrary.

YOU exist for a purpose and under reasons sometimes only God understand.

The bible said God IS love...not God HAS love...Love is the essence of HIS character

God made all of us to express HIS love....

It is easier to accept that there is a God then to believe that all of us are an accident of this uncertain astronomical fluke...

God is the reason why there is a purpose all of us are standing here breathing...if not...there will be no right, no wrong, no significance, no point to continue on through the coming years...

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You are who you are for a reason.
You're a part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's Special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he choose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's Seal.

No, the trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are beloved,
Because there is a God!

by Russell Kelfer

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Kenin's remark:
Well i believe the title and description is clear enough that all of us are are involved in this huge equation of the cosmos - God's plan. Nothing is by accident! There is no such thing as lucky...for all things come from God...None of us is an accident and there is a purpose God has for us that we are breathing right now!...

So one of the sections in this book is Question to Consider...and the questions for this day is what area of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?

Kenin answer: I am struggling with...

my personality : noisy and always sour faced making ppl tot i am not friendly...i am friendly!!! **every1 agrees**

my background: that i am not really good at speaking Chinese -.- since i was born and raised completely in an English environment ...so yea u can call me a banana...but beware!!! i understand every single thing that comes from ur mouth! or even write ( a bit) ^^

my physical appearance: i am almost too tall / taller than average -.- sometimes being tall is not a good thing . (end of story)

well obviously this segment is for me to appreciate whatever weaknesses I have now and accept whatever God has blessed me with...**deep breath**

**signing off reluctantly**

well after now it will be a week before i will online again coz i m flying to KK at 5pm tomolo haiz...cant wait to see the new Terminal 2...haha bye

"yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." 1 Corinthians 8:6

To God Be the Glory.

Day 1: It All Starts With God

So as u all know ... my friend gave me the book Purpose Driven Life...and it's basically a 40 days challenge...and logically I am taking up this challenge...i believe that this book will do great to me in the next 40 days and i am planning to keep my self updated with bloggie^^ but too bad i will be in KK with no com and net so i guess i will miss out 4-5 days of posts...sien...to be honest i feel like reading the book till the end right now but the book mentioned that i shudnt...haiz...the books psychic..tsk tsk tsk...JKJK okok enough crap...

~~~~~Day 1 summary~~~~~
"
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."Colossian 1:16
Well day 1 is about the purpose of your life!!!...many ppl has/have/had been wondering aimlessly asking for their purpose in life...""want on earth am i here for??""...ever ask urself this question?yea..the book explained that u must begin with God 1st to get the answer as...
"You were born by his purpose and for his purpose"
As humans we always ask self centered question...
What do I want to be?...*cough*aeroplane engineer*cough*
What should I do in my life?...*cough*be aeroplane engineer *cough*
What should I do with my life?...*cough*build aeroplane*cough*
What are my goals, ambitions for my future?...*cough*aeroplane aeroplane aeroplane!!!*cough*
Many people try to use God for their self actualization...and is DOOMED to failure...
WE WERE MADE FOR GOD!!!not the other way round...
The purpose of ur life is to let God use YOU for HIS purpose...
How then are we to discover our purpose of life?
OPTION 1:
Speculation~
Most people option where ppl tend to
conjecture...
guess...
theorize...
Kenin: hmm true true...the famous...I think i think i think...kan kan kan ???
OPTION 2(obviously the correct 1)
Revelation
Ask God!!!ask Him wat is YOUR purpose of life...
God does not left us in the dark to get lost and guess wat is our purpose of life...
All his purposes (five of them) are revealed:
1)Through the Bible explaining
2)Why we are alive?
3)How life works?
4)What to avoid?
5)What to expect in the future?
God is NOT the starting point of YOUR life...but the SOURCE of it...
Turn to God's word...not the the earthly wonders around you to discover YOUR purpose...
Three insights into our purpose:
1)Discover ourself through a relationship with Jesus Christ
2)God was thinking of us wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy before we even thought about him
3)The purpose of our life fits into a larger, cosmic purpose God designed for eternity
Kenin's remark:
God works in mysterious ways...
Ever wonder y sometimes things in ur life exist? Or...something in ur life is juz missing...doesnt feel right...well i am here to assure u ...God is thinking of u way before u even feel that way...He wants to shape ur life...i urge YOU...Let HIM!!!
Few weeks ago i was in St Patrick Church Resource Center looking for a bookmark for Karen's wedding present...i bought 1 and decided i might need another 1 so Byron and Karen can read simultaneously...So in a rush i pick a bookmark paid then run to my car...looking and matching the two bookmarks...i felt strange...neither do they match color wise~ design wise~they don seem compatible at all...its a strange feeling...feels like u are incomplete and trust me ...that is not a good feeling...
*Magnificent*
Weeks have passed...and Nan gave me the "Purple Book" that i am soooo delighted upon...and i was thinking...hey...i need a bookmark for this book...**went browsing at my bible here and there** i found none...i decided to use the extra bookmark i bought for Karen...and hey!!!
IT FITS!!! perfectly...the bookmarks said ""Each New Day is a miracle in progress"" fitting the books theme : 40 days of transformation...wow...that is definitely not a coincidence!!!
U see...God has a plan for u ...eons before YOU exist...Do u believe it?
I DO
